| Description: | The cleavage of the substrate was followed by monitoring the change in fluorescence at 460 nm (excitation at 365 nm) for 25 min at room temperature on a Packard Fusion plate reader. Initial reaction rates were measured, and IC50s were calculated from replicate curves using GraphPad Prizm software, and standard errors and P values were within statistically acceptable limits. Assay standards were provided by benzamidine and proflavin. Benzamidine and proflavin were found to have IC50 values of 440 and 12 uM, respectively. |
