Compounds are either acquired from commercial sources or synthesized internally. Alkaline phosphatases (EC 3.1.3.1) (APs) catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphomonoesters, releasing phosphate and alcohol. APs are dimeric enzymes found in the most organisms.
