| Description: | PLA2 activity is by using the fluorescent phospholipid analogue, beta-pyC-10-PG as the substrate. The increase in fluorescence (ex @342 nm and em@388 nm) of the enzymatic reaction was recorded with a spectrofluorimeter LS50 (Perkin-Elmer). The PLA2 activity was then calculated. The activity is expressed in micromoles of fluorescent beta-pyC-10-PG hydrolyzed per min and per mg of PLA2. This allows the determination of the IC50 values (concentration of inhibitors producing 50% inhibition) of each compound. |
